Customs and Imports have seized a large quantity of poorly transported medical supplies over fears of contamination.
Due to a temperature failure of the cargo containers used to transport the supplies, customs and imports had no option but to seize the goods. The containers had blood and plasma shipped by the Anderson Health Consortium who have been reprimanded for failing to take adequate precautions and have been hit with a £100,000 fine.
Failing to keep blood and plasma at the right temperature runs the risk of the supplies becoming degraded and potentially life threatening to anyone who may have had the transfusion with the blood. There are strict guidelines in place by t he government that Anderson Health consortium failed to follow.
No one at Anderson Health Consortium was available for a statement.
