Car Fire outside Pub

On 27th February a car was found to be on fire outside the Merlin pub.

Fire services were called to the scene and the fire was extinguished.  It is yet unknown of this was a malicious attack on the owner of the car but there were no reports of any injuries due to the fire.

Willie Smith witnessed the blaze.

“I just came out of the pub after a nice wee drink with my pals, when I smelt this awful burning smell.  Then I saw the car on fire and phoned the police.  There was no-one else about when it happened, but this is not an area that things just go on fire for no reason.”

Investigations are ongoing.  The car was badly torched, so the owner has not yet been traced.
