Visual Effects buyouts cause concern

An anonymous financier has bought over several large visual effects companies causing a stir within the industry, with a feeling that the market is becoming cornered by a single corporation.

In the past month several companies including Milk VFX, Jellyfish Pictures ltd and Lobsters Creative have been acquired by a single individual who has not yet been publicly named.  All of the companies have worked one some of the biggest film and television projects in the last 10 years producing various CGI and practical effects.

There is concern that costs will skyrocket due to the lack of competition, though smaller companies do see it as an opportunity to break through as alternatives.
