A possible breakthrough in viable synthetic blood has been announced by the Medical Research Council.
An undisclosed researcher has introduced possible refinements to current blood technologies that experts believe could increase in the chance of synthetic blood being produced to better help patients needing transfusions.
Currently Synthetic blood is Made using stem cells to produce red blood cells. The advantage of this is that the blood is guaranteed to be unexposed to various blood born diseases. The issue is that the expense and The increased risks of heart attacks.
It is hoped that if this breakthrough passes all of the stringent testing that it could benefit all patients, especially those of rare blood types and in poverty stricken countries.
