businesses in the Victoria street area were left without internet causing major chaos.
On June 8th Openreach, who are responsible for telephone lines and internet services, were made aware of a mass issue that effected the Victoria Street area. Investigations showed that all internet ready lines were out, likely caused by roadworks that were taking place. Due to the nature of the problem, it took another 9 days for works to be completed and internet returned to the area.
During this time, they had to rely on mobile data and businesses were unable to make use of many Point of sale services such as card readers causing major problems. Openreach and the various internet providers will refund for the time the internet was out but will not compensate businesses for additional charges or loss of business.
