The pandemic may has stopped many things, but one thing that it has not is crime. Criminal behaviour has in fact increased over the past few weeks since stay at home measures took effect and the police have found themselves stretched further to cope with the issues.
An increase of breaking and entering due to more premises being closed, along with an increase in shoplifting, assaults and muggings. Home burglaries have decreased.
Police Scotland has been trying to ensure that police continue to patrol the streets, but they too have reduced numbers due to quarantine rules and they are struggling to cope with the increase in crimes.
They have advised the general public to continue to observe the governments stay home rules to avoid compounding the issues.
