A strange phenomenon has struck in Edinburgh with a spate of pet disappearances occurring over the length of August. With no signs of foul play and no response from searches or public requests, police and animal charities seem stumped for the cause.
“It’s a mystery,” says the chair of the Edinburgh Animal Welfare Association (EAWA), Lucy Brennan, “the animals literally seem to have vanished.”
More concerning, according to Miss Brennan is that their members are reporting that the disappearances have now began to extend to the local wildlife populace. With a lack of infant animals being reported by local nature lovers and animal experts alike. Potentially leading to devastating consequences for the local fauna. For example, some rare species such as the red squirrel may face extinction within Edinburgh and beyond.
